Edison Event 1

While construction continues to ultimately bring Comcast’s smart, fast, reliable, fiber-rich network to all 40,000 Edison homes and businesses over the next few years, the company marked the first 1,000+ homes and businesses in the township that are now able to sign up for Xfinity or Comcast Business services, with a community celebration.

“I promised to bring broadband competition to Edison and this day marks a critical point in our progress towards better service for all of our students, teachers, business owners and residents, especially for those who work remotely,” said Edison Mayor Sam Joshi. “I’m thrilled by this milestone and happy for our community for getting a new option of fast and reliable Internet service.”

This first wave of residents now have access to Comcast’s full suite of Internet products, from Xfinity Internet – offering symmetrical gigabit speeds – to Internet Essentials Comcast’s low-cost broadband for low-income families. Additionally, Xfinity Internet provides wall-to-wall WiFi coverage throughout the home backed by advanced security features to help keep browsing safe.

Comcast and Mayor Joshi also marked the milestone by meeting Edison resident Raj Elangovan, who was among the first residents in the township to access the Xfinity network when his service was installed on June 2. “I met one of the Xfinity sales reps and was ready to sign up immediately,” said Raj Elangovan. “I couldn’t be happier with the speed and reliability of Xfinity Internet and the professionalism of every Xfinity employee I encountered.”
