Connecting Unserved Residents in Cumberland County: What Locals Are Saying About Their New Services from Comcast

When Hopewell and Maurice River Townships in Cumberland County sought a partner to connect their unserved rural residents and businesses, Comcast answered the call and recently completed its expansion of our network into those previously unserved, and underserved areas. Today, the last nearly 350 additional rural homes and businesses now have access to Comcast’s world-class broadband, mobile and entertainment experiences through Xfinity and Comcast Business. We spoke with some of our new customers who were connected for the first time, as well as a few teammates who worked hard to reach every property in the townships. 

David and Kathleen have lived in Hopewell for two years. With only six houses on their street, they’ve been waiting and hoping for a provider to bring reliable Internet into their community. Enter Xfinity.  

“We were so glad when we learned Xfinity was extending its network in Hopewell,” David shared. “A knock on our door let us know that construction teams were completing the wiring, and within a few days, we were connected.  

Everyone we encountered, from the sales representatives to the technicians, was helpful. We had questions, they had answers.”  

Without a broadband provider, David and Kathleen couldn’t enjoy modern pleasures like streaming or using their computer to browse the Internet.  

“There’s no better feeling knowing you can turn on your computer and have it do what you want it to do,” David said. “With Xfinity Internet, we can stream shows and movies we weren’t able to watch previously – something others probably take for granted,” Kathleen added. 

“Xfinity has been welcomed with open arms around here,” David concluded.   

Brenda was at the hair salon when she received a text message from her neighbor that Xfinity sales representatives were at her farm. Fifteen minutes later – hair still wet from running out of her appointment – Brenda rushed over to meet with the Xfinity representatives and sign up for her services.  

“Relying on cellular service just didn’t cut it,” Brenda shared. “With Xfinity Internet and X1 video, I can watch college softball, Major League Baseball and my favorite reality TV shows. And the Xfinity Voice Remote has been a total game-changer!”  

“I’m saving compared to my previous provider, and I’m getting much more,” Brenda said. “I’ve also appreciated the help I’ve received throughout this process – everyone took the time to walk me through my new services and answer my questions. Kyle [Hemberger], my sales representative, even called me two weeks after my install to check in on me.”  

Kyle Hemberger has been with Comcast for 14 years and works as a direct sales supervisor in New Jersey. He and his team hit the streets to connect with residents in areas newly connected to Xfinity services. In Hopewell and Maurice River, residents are especially eager to speak with them.

“The residents we’ve encountered never thought we’d come down their street,” Kyle shared. “By offering reliable Xfinity Internet, seamless streaming of shows and movies and the convenience of our Xfinity Voice Remote, we’re opening the door to a whole new world of possibilities,” Kyle said.  

Kyle shared a story of one family where his team connected a farmer and his elderly parents to Xfinity Internet and Xfinity Mobile. This family now not only has a home Internet connection for the first time, but they are saving on mobile compared to their previous provider. By taking advantage of Xfinity Mobile’s free line of unlimited, these customers will save thousands of dollars over the next two years on phone bills alone. 

Eric Schreiner, an Xfinity technician of 11 years, describes his experience connecting these Xfinity and Comcast Business customers to Internet for the first time, as rewarding.

“It’s hard to imagine living without reliable connectivity, but for some residents of Hopewell, this has been their reality,” Eric shared, adding how welcoming the community has been. “Introducing residents to Xfinity products, services and technology is exciting.”  

“I’ve had many memorable installations throughout our expansion in Hopewell. Eric shared the story of a young father with a remote job who had to commute to the office daily just for Internet access. Now, he can work from home and help more with his kids thanks to Xfinity Internet.
