For the past eight years, Comcast employees’ passion for the Preston & Steve Show’s Camp Out for Hunger has continued to grow.
Like many others, we pivoted to our first-ever all virtual collection last year due to COVID-19 – and we took second place in the Camp Out for Hunger Business Challenge! This year we were excited to get back to collecting canned goods, offering both virtual and in-person options. In addition to reinstating our technicians’ in-person collections, we launched public collections at select Xfinity Retail Stores across Greater Philly for the first time to give employees and community members who might not be able to make it out to Camp Out for Hunger a convenient and safe place to donate to Philabundance.
Additionally, employees across Freedom Region and our Corporate Headquarters, as well as our friends at NBC10, once again were invited to support Camp Out for Hunger by making a virtual contribution to Philabundance through a special Comcast NBCUniversal matching gift program, allowing employees to double their impact.
On the morning of Friday, November 5, we rolled up to Xfinity Live! in our caravan of Xfinity trucks and two warehouse box trucks filled with food. Our physical and virtual donations from employees, combined with special gifts from the Comcast Foundation and our Xfinity Marketing, Comcast Business and Community Impact teams, brought our total to nearly 350,000 pounds!
Freedom Region’s new SVP Dennis Mathew and Jennifer Bilotta, VP of communications, joined Preston & Steve for a live, on-air interview to announce our donation total.
As we continue to face the COVID-19 pandemic, the need is still so great for so many families. We are honored to contribute to Camp Out for Hunger year after year. We would like to thank all of our employees who donated and give a special thanks to the Freedom Region Unidos Employee Resource Group for helping support the collection for the third year.
We’re already looking forward to 2022.
