Comcast Employees Step Up – Virtually – to Support Local Camp Out for Hunger Food Drive

For the past seven years, Freedom Region employees have participated in the Preston & Steve Show’s Camp Out for Hunger. As we all know very well by now, this year was different. No in-office food collections, no physical collection events, less friendly competition among teams; like the entire Camp Out for Hunger event, we had to pivot to a virtual collection.

But one thing that didn’t change this year is our employees drive and desire to give back! While we didn’t get to roll up to Camp Out for Hunger with a caravan of Xfinity trucks and a warehouse box truck filled with food – like we have the past several years – on the morning of Friday, November 20, we did appear on the Preston & Steve Show to announce the donation total for our virtual collection.

In lieu of food donations, employees across the Freedom Region and our Corporate Headquarters were asked to support Camp Out for Hunger by making a virtual contribution to Philabundance through a special Comcast NBCUniversal Matching Gift Program. Those donations, combined with special gifts from the Comcast Foundation and our Xfinity Marketing team brought our total to an incredible 490,000 pounds. By far our biggest year yet, during a time when so many families need help due to COVID-19.

We are so proud of all of our employees for their continued generosity! This was truly a team effort this year. We would like to thank all of our employees who donated and give a special thanks to the Freedom Region Unidos Employee Resource Group for helping support the collection for the second year in a row.

We’re already looking forward to raising the bar in 2021.
