“Remember the fallen… Honor those who serve…and Teach our children the value of Freedom” – Wreaths Across America motto

This year, Comcast teammates joined forces with hundreds of volunteers to honor our nation’s heroes during the annual Wreaths Across America ceremony. This marks our fifth year participating in this event at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hilltown, PA, coordinated in part by Comcast’s employee-led Veterans Network (VetNet).

Among the volunteers is John Gallagher, director of enterprise sales at Comcast Business. Five years ago, he brought his worlds together when his parish was looking for ways to support the military community. Gallagher, a member of Comcast’s VetNet for eight years, knew his local cohort could help. Since then, VetNet has supported this event and this year, provided nearly 200 wreaths that volunteers placed on the headstones of fallen service members, as well as a lunch for the volunteers following the ceremony.

“It’s incredible to see how this event has grown and how much it means to our community,” said Gallagher. “I’m proud to work for a company like Comcast that gives employees an opportunity to give back.”

This year’s ceremony began with a procession from the church parking lot to the cemetery, led by the Knights of Columbus, St. Jude Youth Group, and accompanied by the stirring sounds of bagpipes. The Hilltown Police Department, Hilltown Fire Department, Our Lady of Sacred Heart Cemetery committee, the Boy Scouts, local clergy, and community organizations joined, along with the North Penn High School ROTC Color Guard, the Pennsylvania National Guard, and members of the American Legion, adding to the ceremony’s dignity.

State Representative Shelby Labs presided over the wreath-laying ceremony, placing wreaths for each branch of the military.

Comcast NBCUniversal remains dedicated to supporting the military community through initiatives like Wreaths Across America and ongoing programs that make a positive impact on veterans and their families. To learn more, visit our Military Engagement webpage.
