We all know the drill: You just sit down to dinner or to watch your favorite show and the home phone rings. You don’t recognize the number and you immediately think: Uh-oh – Robo.
Robocalls can be disruptive, and in some cases, illegal.
So, in order to reduce the number of these calls coming to your home, Xfinity Voice customers have access to a free service called Nomorobo.
Nomorobo is a filtering service designed to reduce illegal robocaller or telemarketer calls before they reach the intended residential phone number. For example, Nomorobo prevents calls originating from phone numbers reported to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) as Do Not Call Registry violators as well as other numbers reported by Nomorobo users who have indicated were used by robocallers.
So, how does it work?
If someone calls an Xfinity Voice customer who has enabled Nomorobo, the service allows the customer’s phone to ring at the same time the call is connected to Nomorobo servers. During that time, the Nomorobo service quickly checks its database of FTC and Nomorobo-user reported numbers. If the call originates from a blacklisted number, the Nomorobo service ends the call after one ring.
Nomorobo is available at no additional cost to Xfinity Voice customers. The steps on how to use Nomorobo with your Xfinity Voice service can be found here or below for your reference.
Finally, it’s important to note that other robocalls from companies you do business with (or have in the past), political campaigns and charities are legal and will not be affected by Nomorobo. If you’d like more information on robocalls, please check out this resource from the FTC.
Thank you for being an Xfinity Voice customer! We hope this tip helps.
