Comcast celebrated its planned expansion to the City of Bethlehem with an event at the Hispanic Center Lehigh Valley (HCLV) to benefit workforce development in the area. Construction will get underway this summer to expand the company’s reliable, high-speed Internet network to reach thousands of homes and businesses. The network expansion will bring Internet, mobile, entertainment, and security services from Xfinity, NOW, and Comcast Business to residents and businesses for the first time.

Demonstrating its commitment to the region and its residents, Comcast partnered with HCLV to host a free resume and interview skills workshop to support local job seekers. With help from volunteer human resources professionals from Comcast and St. Luke’s University Health Network, attendees worked on enhancing their resumes, sharpening interview techniques, and improving their employability through the effort.

At the event, Comcast also announced the donation of $30,000 and 50 laptops to support HCLV’s efforts to further local workforce development. Each workshop attendee was gifted a laptop, ensuring they have the digital tools needed to pursue new opportunities and thrive in today’s connected world.

“It’s incredible that Comcast is already making an impact in our city,” said Mayor J. William Reynolds. “Expanding choice for our residents and business owners is a game-changer for economic growth, education, and quality of life. Comcast is also investing in our young people and creating opportunities here. Achieving the American dream depends on a strong partnership between the public and private sectors, and this is a great example of that in action.”

The grant and laptop donations are part of Project UP, Comcast’s $1 billion initiative to connect people to the Internet, create digital opportunity, and build a future of unlimited possibilities. This investment includes programs such as low-cost Internet for financially-constrained households through Internet Essentials, free connectivity at community Lift Zones, and digital skills building through partnerships with organizations like HCLV and other Digital Navigators.

“Comcast’s support will help empower our residents with access to the skills they need to compete, and land jobs in today’s digital economy,” said Raymond Santiago, Executive Director, HCLV. “This investment means real opportunity for our neighbors and a stronger future for the Lehigh Valley.”
