Last month, we were honored to bring together more than 250 Comcast RISE recipients, partners, local officials, Comcast leaders and more from across Philadelphia for a night of celebrating and networking.
It was an inspirational night hearing from small businesses spanning industries – from education and fitness to cafes and healthcare – on how they not only survived during the pandemic but thrived.
Comcast RISE and the Comcast RISE Investment Fund launched in 2020 as a response to help small business owners of color who were hardest hit by the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The program was later expanded in November 2021 to include all woman-owned small businesses nationwide.
Right here in the Greater Philadelphia area, we have awarded $2 million in grants – $10,000 each – to 200 small businesses in Philadelphia and Chester, PA, and more than 700 total entrepreneurs have been awarded service packages, to date.
The complimentary service packages came in the form of a TV campaign, production of a TV commercial or consulting services from Effectv; or computer equipment, Internet, voice or cybersecurity from Comcast Business.
While at the event, we heard from so many Comcast RISE recipients about how the program helped their business thrive during challenging times.
