Comcast has announced its seventh round of Comcast RISE recipients, which includes nearly 30 additional New Jersey small businesses owned by women and people of color that will receive marketing and technology resources from Comcast Business and Effectv, the advertising sales division of Comcast Cable. To date, more than 170 small businesses in the Garden State have received support through the Comcast RISE program.

Comcast RISE was created in November 2020 to help small business owners of color who were hardest hit by the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. In November 2021, Comcast expanded eligibility, enabling all women-owned small businesses nationwide to apply.

Round one recipient, Raym Long of Reliant Office Systems in Burlington County said, “We are so grateful for the RISE Program. The process was straightforward, and it allowed us to expedite our tech makeover much faster than anticipated. Whether making an investment or conducting necessary trainings, it can be a challenge to stay on top of technology. Having the right equipment allows us to grow our business so we can help others grow theirs. The RISE program isn’t just about our business, but our family and our community.”

“As we continue to rebuild from the effects of the pandemic, small businesses still need our support. They are the backbone of our local communities, and we must take every opportunity to help them not only survive, but to thrive,” said Dennis Mathew, Comcast Regional Senior Vice President. “When we launched Comcast RISE in 2020, we knew a profound need existed in the communities we serve. Two and a half years later, we have seen firsthand how the resources from Comcast RISE benefit small businesses.”

“The tech makeover has helped my business in ways I had not expected. I am more confident as a business owner because I can offer my clients a new level of excellence! Customer experience means a lot to a business and thanks to my award, I can provide a better experience to all of my clientele,” said Ashley Taylor of CreativeMotion Arts Center in Camden County, a round one technology makeover recipient.

“The Comcast RISE technology makeover made reimagining our business strategies and growth potential possible. When we re-emerged from pandemic shutdowns, Comcast RISE set us up with many more opportunities to be of service to our community. We’ve already been able to broaden our reach and integrate practices with participants that we couldn’t do previously due to technological challenges. In addition, the year of free internet service helped our business as we recover and plan forward. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to participate in the program,” said Bradshaw Creative Services CEO Erica Bradshaw, of Union County.

Since its launch, Comcast RISE has awarded more than $16 million in grants and $75 million in in-kind support including marketing and technology services, impacting more than 9,500 entrepreneurs nationwide. By the end of 2022, 13,000 businesses across the country are expected to benefit from the Comcast RISE initiative, either through the grant program or from the resources provided through Effectv and Comcast Business.

Comcast RISE, which stands for Representation, Investment, Strength and Empowerment, is part of Project UP, Comcast’s comprehensive initiative to advance digital equity. Over the next 10 years, Comcast has committed $1 billion to programs like Comcast RISE and partnerships that will reach an estimated 50 million people with the skills, opportunities and resources they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
