Helping Our Customers Recover from Hurricane Ida

Infographic describing power vs. internet outages

As parts of the region begin to recover from the record-setting floods, evacuations, road closures and other effects of Hurricane Ida and the tornadoes spurred by the storm, Comcast is working hard across Greater Philadelphia and New Jersey to restore services to impacted customers as soon as possible. Our hearts go out to those who have been directly affected, including our team members who are caring for their own homes and families as their work to support our customers continues – all while keeping the safety of our employees and customers a top priority.

When severe weather hits our radar, preparations begin immediately so our teams can respond quickly to any impact to our services due to power outages, flooding, trees that take down cable lines and more. From increasing staffing and positioning generators to ensuring our service vehicles are prepared for challenging conditions, you can rest assured that our teams are ready to respond wherever they are needed – as areas become safe and accessible for work.

Though it’s very early and there are locations that are restricted because of hazardous conditions and closures, it appears that the majority of service issues are commercial power related. It’s important to know that our crews do not have access to repair lines until the power company has completed their work and cleared an area. For most, service should be restored as power comes back on. Also, even though power might have been restored to an individual’s home, there are instances where power has not yet been fully restored to the local Comcast distribution point that serves the neighborhood.

Once areas are cleared and safe, we will continue to work around the clock until services are fully restored for every customer.
