It’s Back to School in Philly But Internet Essentials is Just Getting Started

By Sharon Powell, Comcast Senior Director of Government Affairs

Our kids may be back to school but that hasn’t stopped Comcast from engaging with the community to spread the word further about Internet Essentials.

We have a jam-packed weekend of activity in the City of Philadelphia to look forward to, and our team will be out in full force to share information about the Internet Essentials program, to raffle off laptops and to promote our digital literacy training programs. We’ll also be joined by a few of our Internet Essential Ambassadors on Saturday. Our Ambassador group is a grassroots program for Comcast employees across the company to harness their passion for their communities, the company and technology, by helping eligible families get connected to the power of the Internet at home. Please stop by to meet Ezekiel and Shanda!

I hope to see you at one of the following events:

  • Friday, October 2: Councilwoman Marian B. Tasco’s Northwest Philadelphia Families Back to School Event at Finley Recreation Center, 7701 Mansfield Avenue (4 -7 p.m.) Comcast to raffle off three laptops!
  • Saturday, October 3: Unity in the Community Coat Drive at 1529 South 22nd Street (2 – 5 p.m.) Comcast and KYW Newsradio to raffle off a laptop!
  • Sunday, October 4: Boricua Festival at Fairhill Park, 400 W. Lehigh Avenue (12 – 4 p.m.)

Follow me on Twitter to keep tabs on our whereabouts and to help us bridge the digital divide in Philadelphia by connecting more families to the Internet. Visit www.InternetEssentials.com or www.InternetBasico.com to learn more.
